About this event
Class Objective: For you to become familiar with the concepts, terminology, equipment and art of fly fishing. Upon completion, we want you to be comfortable:
- selecting equipment that suits your fly fishing needs
- to be able to set up your equipment for a day on the water
- to be able to try out the skills you’ve learned at the many lakes and streams in our area
- to be able to walk into a fly shop and converse comfortably
- to be able to feel comfortable joining the Regency Ranch fly fishing group
This is a basic fly fishing class. It assumes you don’t know what a fly rod is and what end to hold. It covers basic equipment needs, terminology, knots, reading the water, entomology and basic on the water technique.
The class is a combination of lecture and hands-on sessions such as tying essential knots and fly casting clinics.
The time commitment is significant. Sessions run 2 hrs sometimes more. We will meet every saturday (even though only the 1st one is on the calendar) The class could run into 2 months.
There is no cost.
The number of students will be limited due to student to teacher practicality. Those that attended the first fishing group meeting on 10/3 will have priority. Otherwise it’s on a first come first serve basis.
